About

Why we’re building this

Plenty of people want to know exactly where their food comes from — not “a farm somewhere,” but a field they could drive past on a Saturday. Most of them will never homestead. They don’t have the land, the time, or, for some, the ability anymore. Local Raised is for them: reserve something real at a nearby farm — a quarter of a steer, your own apple tree, a share of the fall harvest — and a farmer raises it for you.

The other half of the mission is the farm. Small farms don’t struggle because they can’t grow food; they struggle because the market shows up after the work is done. When a season is reserved before it’s raised — deposits up front, buyers committed — a small farm can plant with certainty. Keep food local, and make small farms viable: that’s the whole idea.

What a reservation is

Every Local Raised reservation is a specific, physical thing for your own table: a fraction of one animal, one tree’s harvest, a set quantity of a crop. Each reservation is a single, discrete purchase — buying your food ahead of the season, directly from the farm, never a piece of the farm business itself.
